CURRAN MEMORIAL CLOCK TOWER

Constructed in the 1970's, the carillon tower had been struck by lightning twice, and the clocks had not worked for decades. Councilman Robert Curran and Reverend Jack Sharp, then of Govans Presbyterian Church, met with the neighboring community to share GEDCO's plans to relocate the carillon bells to the public park at Stadium Place.

Joe Curran, Sr. formed a committee including residential and business community members, Stadium Place project representatives from GEDCO, Rev. Sharp and the Curran family, to discuss a suitable replacement or redesign for the York / Woodbourne location.

Located just steps from our front door, PBA provided pro bono professional design services for the new clock tower.
