Ben Carson Reading Rooms is a program sponsored by the Carson Scholars Fund that seeks to create spaces the stimulate connections between readers and the imagination. The Rotary Club of Baltimore City selected Cherry Hill Elementary School to install a Ben Carson Reading Room.
The firm worked with Rotarians and BCPSS K-12 school officials to develop a program and a space plan to convert an existing space for this special purpose. A team of volunteer skilled professionals joined together to craft a space that would accommodate groups of various sizes, yet still be an inspiring personal learning experience.
Carpenters, painters, and electricians, joined families and area business owners to build bookshelves and loft structures and to install donated appliances, lighting, electronics, hardware, kid friendly furniture, posters, artwork and books.
Dr. Ben Carson joined Rotarians and the entire learning community to celebrate the opening.
